Squash…..Phase 2…Match Play in Squash Bubbles

8 September 2020

From Tuesday 1st September we have moved to Phase 2 of England Squash’s “Return to Play” plan.  This is great news as is means players can form ‘squash bubbles” of up to six people and play full court matches with them.  You can only belong to one bubble at a time, but after a seven day break you can switch to another bubble.  The bubble groups can be registered with the Club.  Please send in your bubble group to [email protected] and we will maintain the lists.

Full information can be found on the England Squash website – https://www.englandsquash.com/back-to-squash/guidance-for-players

Guidance from phase 1 must also continue to be followed:

  • No more than 2 players on court
  • Wash/Sanitise your hands before and after play
  • Bring your own racquet and balls
  • Please do not wipe your hands on the walls
  • Please put your towel and equipment straight into your bag
  • Don’t play/come into the Club if you are displaying any Covid symptoms

If you would like to be part of a squash bubble, please email [email protected] with your playing standard and we will aim to put you in touch with others.

If you would rather not be part of a squash bubble you can continue to play drills, routines, and solo practice.  England Squash have also prepared some suggestions for ways to play – https://www.englandsquash.com/back-to-squash/ways-to-play

Club Towers Court Information

You must be a racquets member to book courts. However, a racquets member can sign a guest in to play up to 4 times per year, at a cost of £8.  Members must book the court and then pay at Reception.  The guest must sign in, and complete track and trace information at Reception. Please always remember to wear non-marking shoes (no black soles) and as we head into Winter wear different shoes to the Club and then change into your court shoes. If your footwear is not correct you will not be allowed to play.

Club Towers Squash Programme

We are gradually building our programme safely back up again; here’s what’s currently available:

Squash Club Night takes place every Friday night, 5.45 – 6.30pm. Please book through the App or with the Reception team.  All playing abilities welcome. This will not be match play (unless someone in your bubble is also in attendance) but can still be good fun and exercise!

Squash Welcome, if you are new to the game, book a free Squash welcome with our coach Ed. He will give you some basic pointers, assess your standard and help guide you towards the right activities for you within our squash programme.  This can be arranged a time convenient to you and Ed. Please speak to the Reception team to arrange.

Junior Coaching, we would love to see more junior members on the courts.  We run coaching sessions on Saturday mornings, 9.30-10.15am and Wednesday evenings, 5.45 – 6.30pm for juniors aged seven and up.  To find out more and to book please speak to our Reception team.

Ladies Squash and Prosecco evenings – these friendly relaxed evenings were popular before lockdown and we are looking to get them started again.  Once a month our coaches Jen and Juliette will be looking to get ladies back on the courts with some informal coaching and drills followed by a glass of Prosecco in the Club Lounge.  The exact format of the evening will depend upon how many members are interested. They will be run on Wednesday nights at 7.15pm and the pencilled in (subject to change dates) are: 16th Sept, 7th October, 11th November, 16th December.  Commitment isn’t required for all sessions, so just join us when you can!

If you would like to register your interest, please speak to the Reception team in the Club or email [email protected]
