Sun Shines on Club Towers Golfers
After a couple of weeks of torrential rain, floods and course closures across the county we could not have been any luckier to find ourselves teeing off at the Bedford and County Golf Club in glorious sunshine for this year’s Club Towers Golf Day.
Considering all the recent poor weather, the course was in fabulous condition and after some pre-tournament bacon rolls and coffees, we had 5 teams all set and looking forward to the day.
The competition itself was run as a team Stableford event with the best two scores on each hole counting and a further prize awarded for the highest individual Stableford score on the day.
There was plenty of good golf on show (and some not so good, of course!) but it was local veteran Tom Inskip who led the way and took the individual prize with a fantastic round and a total of 40 points.
In the team competition, the fourball of Phaedra & Peter Schofield and Iain & Suzanne Richardson were in good form and took second place with an impressive 85 points. But it was Niall Hamshere, Tom Inskip, Daniel Emkes and Esteban Stewart that took the first prize with a huge total of 95 points.
Tom Inskip had a great day on his home course and thoroughly deserved the now traditional “Club Towers Green Jacket” for his round. He didn’t quite manage to win everything going though with Marc Thomas picking up the nearest the pin and Steve Davies the longest drive prizes.
Thanks to everyone for taking part in what was a thoroughly enjoyable day. We really would love to see more of our golfing members come and join us next year if you can!
