New Racketball Club Night on Thursdays

1 January 2022

We are pleased to announce the launch of a new Racketball club night every Thursday from 5.45pm -7.15pm starting on Thursday 13th January. As with the squash and tennis social sessions there is no need to book; it’s included in racquets membership and all standards are welcome to come and mix in.

Racketball is the UK’s fastest growing sport! It is played on a squash court and is similar to squash; however, in racketball we use a shorter racquet and a larger ball, which does not need warming up like in squash.

The fact that the ball is bigger, bouncier and does not need warming up means that the rallies last longer, as the ball moves slower giving the opponent more time to react and get to the ball. The shorter racket also helps with hand eye coordination making the ball easier to strike. Overall, this makes the game much easier to pick up than many other sports like squash or tennis. Easy to learn yet difficult tomaster, and a truly great aerobic workout too.

We have racquets available to borrow so don’t worry if you don’t have one, or if you’ve never played before.

If any racquets members want to try this great game please email our new Racquets Operations Manager on [email protected] and he will book a free intro session with you. Come and give it a go and see what you think!
