Club Lounge to 5k – New Running Course

After feedback from many members, experienced PT and runner Steve is looking to offer a running course here at the Club this September. The course is aimed at beginners and provides a progressive run training programme alongside specific strength and conditioning. The end goal being a 5k parkrun, which the group will attend and complete together, along with Course Leader Steve.

The 6-week course will cost £149, and include:

  • Individual treadmill assessment and technical feedback.
  • 6-week progressive walk/ run training programme.
  • 6 x 1 hour small group strength and conditioning workshops, built around injury prevention, running efficiency and core stability.
  • Private Strava group for sharing achievements, advice and encouragement.
  • Group Parkrun (5k) to mark the end of the course and share success.
  • Access to Personal Trainer Steve for technical advice and feedback (and motivation!).

Course Details

You will receive a 6-week progressive walk/run schedule comprised of 3 runs per week, with the walk/run ratio changing as your fitness improves and a weekly strength and conditioning session in the gym which will increase your injury resilience and help ensure a good posture to aid running efficiency.

About course leader Steve

Steve has been with Club Towers since March 2023 and so is a familiar face to many. He is a Level 3 Personal Trainer and an experienced long distance runner. He has tried lots of different training methods over many years in order to achieve these really impressive personal best times:

5k – 16:03
10k – 32:55
Half Marathon – 1:12:17
Marathon – 2:38:12

He has a huge passion for running and is keen to introduce the many benefits it can have, such as:

  • Improved heart health.
  • Strengthening the immune system through increased circulation and blood flow.
  • Weight management – increase in metabolic rate and calorie burn.
  • Improved mood through endorphin release.
  • Increasing bone density and strength.

He’s also leader of our new and popular running group which takes placed every Wednesday for those already running 5k distances.
