Cakes, Coffee and Generosity Raise £1,500 for Charity

We recently held our first fund-raising event for our new member-chosen charities, a cake and coffee morning.  Thanks to the generous baking from members, staff and our partner suppliers we had lots available for members to buy and are absolutely thrilled to announce we raised a fantastic £1,523.59.  As well as the proceeds from all cake sales, the Club also donates 50% of hot drink sales during the morning, helping us to reach this total.

As a reminder the charities chosen by members in the Summer were the Bedford Blues Foundation and the Primrose Car Service who both wish to thank everyone for their support and the great start to the fundraising year.

If you were able to be with us, we hope you agree that there was a lovely atmosphere in the Club on a busy Saturday morning, added to by our Les Mills launch classes with those members earning their cake in the classes – it’s all about balance! We also had a couple of fun fundraising games for children alongside the cakes; guess the number of sweets and guess the name of the bear.  The bear’s name was Sam and was guessed by Evie (Sam is her dad’s name hence why she choose it) and the number of sweets was 141 – closest guess was Florence.  Well done you two!

Special thanks must go to member and keen tennis player Missi of Missis’ cakes who baked an extraordinary amount of cake, which really did make all the difference to our total. She was supported by her fellow tennis players who donated ingredients – thank you too.

A big thank you also to our suppliers La Rondine and Bookers for their kind donations and to member Lois for her Body Combat 100 brownies which looked and tasted amazing and went down well after a hot Combat class in the dome!

And, of course, we must thank all of you who bought on the day!

Next Charity Events

Our next charity event will be a change of pace and location – our spinathon in the Spring.  You could perhaps also save the date for out Charity Summer Ball which will be on the 28^th June 2025.  We will share details of both events in due course in our newsletter, on our Club Calendar and in the Club.
