Club Towers Team Squash Round Up 2021 / 2022
Bedfordshire League Division 1
Club Towers 1 – having won the title twice already since the Club was formed this was not CT1’s year. Injuries and availability issues have resulted in the team currently sitting in 6th place. Nevertheless, an enjoyable season had by all with some great squash along the way. They will be back pushing for honours next year no doubt!
Club Towers 2 – the standout performers this year in the league with the side needing to get 16 points (out of a possible 40) from the last 2 games to secure the title. Despite not having Ivan Schimanski available as much as the team would have hoped, availability has been strong all year and the team have lost only two games so far.
Bedfordshire League Division 2
Club Towers 3 – Led as brilliantly as ever by Babs Rai the team currently sit in 2nd place in the table. They put a serious challenge in for the title this year but with only 1 match left a runners-up spot is the best they can hope for. Considering a lot of the squad are still relatively new to team squash this was a great achievement and many players have really developed their games this year. The spirit amongst the side has been superb and the season a resounding success. Well done all!
Cambridgeshire League Division 1
We pool our resources in the Cambs League and have players from all the Beds league sides available to pick from. The large squad certainly came in handy with a long-term injury to Bruce St Leger, and numerous other injuries and availability issues affecting the team’s ability to challenge for the title. They currently sits right in the middle of the table in 5th place. At full strength we would have hoped to be a bit higher and in with a shout of our first Cambs League title….. next year maybe!
Cambridgeshire League Cup – Final’s Day 26th March.
We have made it through to the final’s day of the Cup competition on 26th March to be held at Peterborough squash club. We have a semi-final in the morning vs Frank Lee (Cambridge) and if we win that we will have the final in the afternoon against the winner of March vs Hunts County (Hemingford Grey). This is sure to be a great day of squash and a competition we will be giving our utmost to win, having previously reached the final but never won it.
If anyone fancies coming to watch some great squash please contact Steve Davies at [email protected] for match times and directions.
Well done to all the players involved with the teams this year and a big thank you to those that have come and supported. You have helped to create a great atmosphere on match nights!
