Cake and Coffee – a Perfect Recipe for Fundraising Success!

10 May 2024

The latest event in our social calendar was one of our popular cake and coffee fundraising mornings and we hope you agree that it was a really lovely occasion. Our serving table was packed full of delicious cakes and homemade treats.

We were very grateful to have so many treats available on the morning, and a heartfelt thank you goes to all those members, staff and instructors who took the time to bake for us.  Thank you also to our suppliers Bookers, La Rondine and Cupcake Craving by Alice.  A very special thank you must also go to well-known member Missi of Missi’s Cakes for baking so very much and giving up so much of her time.

The Club also donates 50% of hot drink sales during the morning which leads us to our grand total – and it certainly is grand! We raised an astonishing £1,794.16.  We are so thrilled to have raised so much for two brilliant local charities. A further thank you to everyone who bought on the morning and helped us reach this total!

This was our last fundraising event for this year’s member chosen charities, FACES and St John’s Special School.  We were really pleased to welcome St John’s Headteacher, Shannon, teaching assistant Carmelina and two students to the morning. They enjoyed some cake and also explored the Club having some fun on our squash courts.  The children were also excited to see our robot hoover in action on Court One.  They wanted to express their thanks to members and staff for fundraising for them this year.  They also shared that some of the funds have already been used to fund a theatre company visit at the school – only made possible because of the funds we’ve raised.  We will announce the total raised by members over the fundraising year for them and FACES very soon.

We will also open nominations for the charities we will support in 2024-2025 in the next few months, so do look out for details in our newsletters.
