Racquets Open Afternoon – Saturday 29th June 2024
It’s tennis season, with Wimbledon approaching, and a time when many of us are inspired to pick up a racquet and take to the courts! To give members a chance to do this we are running a racquets open day on Saturday 29th June, open to all our members. Whilst tennis is most thought of, we have also included our other racquets sports, Squash and Racketball, as we think they are pretty awesome too! Whether you are a racquets member or not, we would like to invite you to come along and give tennis and/or squash and/or racketball a try (or maybe another try if you have not played for a while!).
We do advise pre-booking with our Reception team as we expect it to be popular, but will take walk-ins on the day if there is space.
The timings are as follows:
Tennis – 12 noon to 3pm
Squash- 12.30 – 2.45pm
Racketball – 2.45 – 3.30pm
Who should come?
The session is open to all, and our coaches will be on hand to organise, offer advice and guide you if needed. So whether you are:
- An adult looking to hit for the first time or come back to one of the sports after a break.
- A racquets members looking to try a different racquet sport.
- A family looking to have a bit of fun on court with your kids before enjoying the BBQ, or
- A parent looking for tips on how to best play with your rapidly improving youngsters…..
Then we will organise some court time for you and, if needed, support from one of the coaches.
What to wear and bring!
We love our courts and do our very best to keep them in good condition. Please do help us with this. On the indoor squash courts, please wear clean, indoor and non-marking footwear. On the tennis courts, comfortable and clean trainers/court shoes please. We will provide all other equipment if you need it such as racquets, balls and squash goggles for children. We are hoping to be outside for the tennis (come on British Summer!!), so perhaps hats and sun cream for the children if needed.
Summer BBQ
Marlon will be running one of his delicious BBQs from 12 – 4pm, on the same afternoon if you’d like to stay around for something to eat.
Racquets Membership
Some of the team will be on hand in the afternoon should you wish to upgrade to racquets membership, or find out more about our junior and adults racquets coaching. If you upgrade on the day you can start your racquets membership from the 1st July and even sign up to one of our free 4-week Start-rite courses.
