Juniors & Creche

We are a family club and have plenty of activities to help get your children active.

We are passionate about families being able to spend time together in the Club exercising, playing sport and relaxing. With that in mind we have outlined below all the activities junior members can take part in:

Creche

Our Creche is open six mornings a week, weekdays from 9am to 1pm, and Saturday mornings from 8.30 – 12.30pm and accepts children over 3 months old. It can be booked by making a block booking (of four consecutive weeks or more) or a week in advance on a first come, first serve basis and is very popular with Mums and Dads alike. So, book your youngsters in and come and enjoy some exercise, or simply take the chance to relax and unwind in the spa or over a coffee.  Please email our Creche manager Toni on [email protected] to book or by calling 01234 607111.

From time to time we run additional sessions in holidays, or at other times, focused on art & crafts or other themes. Look out for details of these in our newsletters and on the noticeboards in the Club.

Tennis Tots

This is the start of your tennis journey, a 45 minute session for children aged 2.5 to 5 which focuses on hand-eye coordination, movement, balance and lots of fun!  We ask that parents/guardians stay courtside with their children, we find children get the most out of the session when playing together.

Mini Red Ball

Using scaled down courts, this is a perfect age to begin these 55-minute sessions. A fun and energetic way for children to enhance their balance and coordination, while learning basic tennis techniques and tactics. A variety of aids are utilised, with various grades of soft balls, hoops and ladders. In these sessions the coaches will usually divide into three sub-groups as the pace of development requires.

Age guide – 4 – 7.

Mini Orange Ball

This session will be the first step onto a larger court for beginners and intermediate players. We develop tactics, technique and movement through drills and playing points. Fun match play starts to sharpen skills. Players may continue to be split into sub-groups according to age and ability.

Age guide 8 – 10.

Green Ball

This session is the first step onto a full court, but otherwise similar to the Mini Orange Ball sessions. Additional focus will be on serving, return of serve and rally development.

Age guide 9-11.

Yellow Ball

These are drills and practical point-based sessions, preparing the junior to compete at the highest level.  There is regular competitive play at this level The technique and skills you developed through mini tennis can now be put into practice.

Age guide 12+.

Mini Squash*

Saturday 10.15am – 11am

Aimed at under 7s, mini-squash introduces the game, but also focuses on the ABCs – Agility, Balance and Coordination. Children will play ball games designed to enhance their basic movement skills, and start to get used to racquets, in a safe environment using bigger balls and rackets.

Junior Coaching – Beginner/Early Learner*

Saturday 9.30 – 10.15am

Typically aimed at 8 – 15 year old beginners or early learners, these session work on the four basic shots: drive, boast, lob and drop; and start to develop movement patterns around the court. If required, participants will be grouped according to ability. Our coaches keep the sessions fun and lively whilst ensuring basic tactics, technique and rules are taught. The aim is to get players able to play fun but competitive games against our other juniors at the earliest opportunity.

Wednesdays 5.45pm – 6.30pm

Designed for ages 11 -18 and all abilities catered for. Our ethos at Club Towers is to cater for all needs and it is no different here. Performance Squad

The Club wish to support any promising juniors and will part-fund some individual coaching sessions for them. This squad is by invitation only. Selection takes place on an annual basis and takes into account each player’s attitude as well as their ability. The performance squad is headed up by an extremely high-quality coaching team with a great pedigree in the sport.

School Squash
