World Squash Day at Club Towers – 12th October

27 September 2019

Those of you that have been members for a while will know how passionate we are about the game of squash and how determined we are to help grow the sport in the Club and in the town. So it stands to reason that we are big supporters of World Squash Day.

World Squash day founder, Alan Thatcher, aims to get 100,000 new players involved in the sport this year. If we can help add a few to the cause and encourage you to come and give squash a try we would be delighted. So, go on, give it a try!

What do we have planned on the day? Take a look at the below activities and please do book in at Reception if you wish to take part. We have balls and racquets you can borrow, and goggles for the juniors.

Juniors

Junior squash – For ages 8+ – 9.30 – 10.15am. Open to non-racquets members at £6.50 for the session.

Mini Squash 4-7 years – 10.15 – 11am. Open to non-racquets members at £6.50 per session.

Our normal junior sessions are running on Saturday morning, but we would love to see a few new faces come and give it a try. We will have extra coaches on hand so why not book your children in and see if they like it. We are confident that they will!

Adult Squash

We have all 4 courts booked from 2pm – 4.15pm on the day and players old and new are welcome to come down and have a hit. We will have some coaches on hand to offer any help and advice if you are new to the game. Non-racquets members are welcome and there is no charge for this session.

Marking and Refereeing Course (with a difference): 4.15pm – 6pm

“Let! You must be joking??” An all too familiar phrase that can be heard on squash courts up and down the country. One of the intricacies of the game of squash is knowing how to deal with someone that is in your way!

We get a lot of feedback at the club from our league players about lets and strokes and at any level of the game it can be tricky to sort out.

We have decided to take action and put on a marking course. This will be quite an interactive “on court session” and hopefully, a lot of fun.

The session will be aimed at any players from box league 4 downwards or any players new to team squash that would like some help with marking. There is no charge for this session.

How to book?

Please book activities with Reception. If your child normally attends the junior squash and is already booked in, you do not need to book again.

We really hope we can inspire some of you to give the sport a go. See you on the 12th October!
