Start-rite Tennis Tournament Allows Early Leaners to Shine
Our annual Start-Rite tournament took place recently and 8 enthusiastic players entered. This tournament is aimed at those players who attended our Start-Rite or Play-Rite course in the past year, and is a great way to stimulate those competitive instincts waiting to get out! Eight players was a good number for a round-robin doubles format event and set us up for an afternoon of great tennis.
Coach Paul Braithwaite set the pairs and each match consisted of 7 games. Lisa and Robin set themselves up with two great wins before playing Kerstin and Tom in their final rubber. Kerstin and Tom needed to win at least 6 games to win the overall competition, and they competed valiantly to lose narrowly by 4 games to 3. Lisa and Robin took the first prize of bottles of wine, with Tom and Kerstin as runners-up. Well played to all 8 competitors and congratulations to our winners!
Winners Lisa Richbell & Robin Duxbury
