Charity Spinathon 2024 is here!

19 January 2024

We are excited to share details of the 2024 Club Towers Charity Spinathon! Taking place on Saturday 2nd March between 1pm and 6pm we are asking all members to join us on the group exercise bikes to raise money for our members’ chosen charities; FACES and the St John’s Special School in Kempston. For those not familiar our Spinathons are the perfect opportunity to mix exercise with fundraising!

The Programme

There will be five consecutive 45-minute spin classes, with fifteen-minute breaks in between, led by our fantastic instructors. You will see each class has a theme and fancy dress for that theme is very much encouraged!

1.00-1.45pm – Queen Anthems (Ride to the Rhythm) with Maija

2.00-2.45pm – Ibiza Madness (Low to High End Endurance) with Jason

3.00-3.45pm – R and B Party (Speed and Endurance) with Dave

4.00-4.45pm – House and Drum & Bass Bangers (Intervals and Threshold Challenge) with Matt

5.00-5.45pm – At the Movies (Fartleck Training) with Hazel and Jayden

Each class will be suitable for beginners right through to experienced cyclists with levels available for all.

Throughout the afternoon and between classes refreshments will be provided to keep us energised and raring to go and we would also like to invite everyone who takes part to a celebratory buffet in the Club Lounge afterwards, at around 6pm.

How to Get Involved!

Each class is £25 per rider, with all monies going to the charities. Members are welcome to book as few or as many classes as they can manage. Whether this is your first spin or you’re a seasoned spinner we would love to see you on the bikes!

For those looking to challenge themselves and book all five classes, we would like to offer you a one-week priority booking window from the 19th January. You will also be able to request your bike and position in the studio. Whilst we can’t guarantee this, we will do our very best to meet all requests. Those completing all five classes will also be presented with a Club Towers Spinathon medal!

Booking

To book, please email Jo on [email protected] with your name and which of the above classes you would like to book. Jo or Lottie will then be in touch to take your payment and confirm your place. Places are booked on a first come, first served basis.

Please note that booking opens for those booking 5 classes from the 19th January and all other bookings from 9am on the 26th January.

Why are we doing it?

We are hoping to raise as much money as we can for local member chosen charities: FACES and St John’s Special School. For those that aren’t familiar with their work here’s some very brief information on them both.

St John’s School and College in Bedford is part of Bedford Inclusive and Training Learning Trust. It caters for pupils who have severe and complex learning difficulties, from Early Years through to post-16.

FACES (Family and Children’s Early-help Services) is a well-established, local and independent charity offering practical and emotional support to families under stress. They support local children and families faced with difficult issues such as mental and physical health problems, domestic abuse, poverty, child sexual exploitation and behavioural issues via a range of quality-tested services and family support groups, many led by a team of dedicated volunteers.

Additional Fundraising

For those riders taking part, we would also encourage you to ask friends and family to sponsor you and we will provide a fundraising link when you book your bikes.

Instructors are giving their time for free to help us raise as much as possible (a great BIG thank you to them!) and the Club is covering all other costs, so all money paid for sessions or donated goes directly to the charities.

We can’t wait to see you all on the bikes and to raise lots of money for our charities!
To find out more, or if you have any questions, please do speak to your instructor or email Jo or Katy via [email protected] and [email protected] respectively.
