Introducing Genevieve Brown – Our Reception Team Leader

25 September 2017

Tell us a little of your background. What is your experience in the leisure industry?

I’ve worked in Leisure since 2004 in various roles; Reception, Swimming Teaching, Lifeguarding, Swim School Coordinator and in Centre Management. I’ve always enjoyed the fun environment and interaction with members, and seeing people achieve their fitness goals.

What attracted you to the position of Reception Team Leader?

I had been watching the development of Towers through their opening weeks and thought it looked like a brilliant club and something that was definitely missing from Bedford.
I was looking to reduce my commute time and work closer to home when I saw the position advertised. It seemed like the perfect fit for me. I love organising things and the prospect of joining a brand-new club and watching it grow is really exciting. I’m so happy to have got the job!

When recruiting your staff, what will you be looking for?

I’ll be looking for people who are friendly and engaging, able to multitask and make decisions quickly. They’ll need to be committed to making our members feel welcome and to doing their utmost to ensure that everyone visiting the club is well looked after.

What is your favourite food?

I eat anything and everything; I’m really greedy! My favourite food is probably Japanese but I also love a juicy, rare steak.

What do you like to do when not working?

Travel. I love visiting new places and having adventures, like being attacked by a porcupine in Costa Rica, driving through mudslides in Tobago and snorkelling with sharks in Thailand.
I also love reading, films, going to gigs, running and yoga. Without doubt though, the biggest time-suck in my life is my house bunny, Brian, who likes to spend several hours a day playing and being cuddled on the sofa.

And finally, who has been your biggest influence?

My parents, who have travelled and lived all over the world, and Oasis, who were my favourite band growing up and never cared what anyone thought of them!
