Club Towers Players Win Two of Six Grades at Junior Squash GP

14 December 2023

Sunday 3rd December saw the Club host one of the Northants/Beds Junior GP Series events for the third year running. A bumper entry saw 55 juniors descend on the Club bringing huge enthusiasm for squash and looking to test their skills against the best players in the region.

These GP events are excellent for development as they grade players by ability rather than separating them by age, enabling the youngsters to compete at the right level for them. As usual it was a friendly but very competitive tournament at all levels.

Many congratulations to Alex Duncan and Jonathan Towers, from Club Towers, who both won their grades (D2 and A grade respectively. A full list of the winners and runners-up in each grade can be found below.

Thanks to all the parents who attended, encouraged their children and helped to mark the games. And particular thanks to our coaches Sam Morris and Simon Marshall, who supported and marked countless games during the day.  This help was hugely appreciated, especially in the morning session when the younger and less experienced juniors struggle to mark their own matches.

There’s lots of pictures from the day on the Northamptonshire Junior Squash Page here.

Next up in the local region are two events.

The next GP series event takes place on 20th January at Club Diana in Wellingborough, which is less that 30 mins from the Club. You can enter this here.

Before this, there is an England Squash sanctioned junior Bronze tournament taking place at Daventry on 29th December. You can enter this here.
