Charity Cake & Coffee Morning – Friday 9th July
As long-standing members will know we are a very sociable club and we have greatly missed our social events over the last 18 months! As restrictions ease, we are looking ahead and restarting our social event calendar. Raising money for the two member chosen charities is also at the heart of this. Normally our biggest fundraiser for the charities is our Summer Ball, which sadly this year we’ve been unable to hold. We wanted to still try and raise some money for those charities, Bedfordshire Sands and CHUMS, before we announce our final total for them and ask members to select two new charities. So, we are pleased to say we are going to hold one of our popular cake and coffee mornings!
Please do join us on the 9th July at 9.30am for a coffee and some delicious home-made cake with your fellow members. The morning will run until approximately 12pm or until the cakes and goodies have run out! All monies raised from the cakes and sweet treats will go directly to the charities and the Club will donate 50% of all hot drink sales too.
We will have a variety of cakes, cupcakes and goodies available on the morning including donations from Kate’s Amazeballs and La Rondine. A big thank you to Katy for supporting with her delicious and nutritious bites and to the team at La Rondine for their wonderful cakes and pastries . If you run a catering/baking business and are able to donate any cakes or sweet treats that would be greatly appreciated; please get in touch with Lois at [email protected] to arrange.
Things will be organised a little differently this time as we remain mindful of covid guidelines. Cakes will be cut and put into boxes ready for you to help yourselves and we ask that there are only 6 at any one time at the cake table. Once you have picked and paid for your cake please do move to a different table and please continue to wear a mask when walking around the Club Lounge. Thank you for your support and help with this. Whilst the Club is now cash free, we will in this instance, be asking for cash donations on the day and there will be two buckets available for this. All cakes will have a suggested donation, so we won’t be offering change or charging set amounts. Card donations can also be accepted at both the Club Lounge and the Reception desk.
So, who are we raising money for? The two very worthwhile charities, chosen back in 2019, are CHUMS and Bedfordshire Sands. CHUMS (Mental Health & Emotional Wellbeing Service for Children and Young People) provides therapeutic support to young people in a variety of ways across Bedfordshire and Sands supports anyone who has been affected by the death of a baby with our funds raised going to local families. You can find out more about their worthwhile work and where funds go to on their websites, www.chumscharity.org and www.bedfordshire.sands.org.uk
After this event, it will very soon be time to ask members which two charities they would like to nominate for us to support for the next 12 months. We will start asking for nominations imminently so please do get ready to send any nominations through to [email protected]. The charities we support must either be local or connected with promoting sport or health & wellbeing. Full details will follow in our next newsletter.
We look forward to seeing you in the Club on the 9th!BACK TO EVENTS
