County Closed Showcases Promising Squash Juniors

14 January 2022

The Junior Squash County Closed tournament was held at the Club on 9th January and highlighted the great promise of our emerging junior talent. The competition was run on a round-robin basis, giving all of the entrants plenty of squash!

In the girls’ event, it came down to a deciding match between twin sisters Annabel and Charlotte Denyer and this will probably not be the last time that this happens! Both players battled hard with Annabel taking the title – just!

The U15 event was a close-run thing, with several players in contention. In the event, Robbie Legget from Biggleswade took the title, with Toby Wileman doing really well to take the runner up spot by beating Oliver Wixted.

The U17 event provided a high-quality final match between Jonathan Towers and Robbie Legget. Jonathan’s great match-play experience told and an excellent display of powerful hitting saw him through to a well-deserved win.

We are looking forward to more of our County juniors playing competitive squash at a regional and national level over the coming 12 months.
