Your Health is for Life! Celebrating National Fitness Day

13 September 2024

National Fitness Day is the UK’s largest celebration of health and fitness and is all about inspiring people to get active!  This year’s theme is ‘Your Health is for Life’, which has been carried over from 2023 as it holds a powerful message that should resonate with us all. National Fitness Day is not about exercising at just that one moment in time but about the longevity in taking small steps towards a lifestyle which can both protect and improve your health. Something we wholeheartedly agree with!  And this mirrors a lot of the sentiment from our recent Wellness Week which also encouraged members to take action, get moving and future proof your health and fitness.

This year National Fitness Day takes place on Wednesday 18th September and we have planned the following activities to mark it:

Fitness Day Gym Challenges

To encourage activity and to have some fun, the gym team will be running three gym challenges next week, starting on Monday 16th September.

  • Plank challenge – Who can hold a plank for the longest?
  • Skillmill Challenge – Who can reach the highest speed on the Skillmill (on level 0)?
  • Strength Challenge – Who can hold the equivalent of their bodyweight using the trap bar the longest (no straps or chalk)?

Get involved and get your name on that board!  Do let the gym team know if you are taking part as they can time you and/or support you with technique and encouragement!

20-minute HIIT Class – available for all

Sometimes it’s just easier to exercise at home, which is why we stream our Club Towers Live classes for members and are sharing a 20-minute HIIT class that you may not have seen before.  This is available to all (not just our members) to encourage everyone to be active for 20 minutes so please do share with friends and family.

The class is suitable for all levels and doesn’t require any equipment.  You can find it here.

Let us know what you think of the class, and we will share the winners from the challenges in our next newsletter.
