Vocal Crowd bring Great Atmosphere to Staff Squash Finals Day
The 3rd annual staff squash competition reached its finale just before Christmas with two highly competitive and entertaining finals played out in front of a mix of intrigued club members and some highly partisan colleagues!
The first final was for the Plate, which featured all the players who lost out in the first round of the main event. This year saw a ‘Cleaning Team final’ between cleaner and competition organiser, Ed, and his cleaning team manager, Amy. The watching crowd quickly adopted Amy as their favourite and were cheering and booing like it was pantomime season! They got their reward eventually with a hard fought 2-1 win for Amy.

The main competition final featured our finance and HR manager, Theresa, against Sam from our Club Lounge team. A high-quality match ended in a very close finish in the final game and a hard-fought 2-1 victory for Sam.

General Manager Steve Davies, and Racquets Operations Manager, Steve Adams, were on hand to officiate and hand out commemorative trophies to all the finalists and thanked everyone present for supporting the event, and each other, with great sportsmanship.

All the staff who have played both this year and in previous years were enabled to do so by the efforts of our enthusiastic squash coaching team, and if this has inspired any of our members to give squash a try, a free introductory session is available to you – just ask the Reception Team to get booked in for the new year.
Thank you to Ed for organising and motivating us all again, we appreciate your energy and enthusiasm!
