Thank Evans for Squash Doubles!
Five pairs took to the courts at the club on Saturday 13th June for the annual Squash Doubles Tournament 2026. Played in a round-robin format, each pair faced every other team once, creating a full afternoon of competitive and entertaining doubles squash.
As always, doubles squash provided its unique mix of tactical play, quick reactions, and controlled chaos. Despite four players competing for the same space, the standard of play was high throughout, with plenty of impressive rallies and clever shot-making on display.
The 5 teams were:
Steve Evans & Dan Evans
Sam Morris & Ryan Pescod
Tony Blott & Manjit Ubhi
Patryk Konopacki & James O’Connor
Glenn Rudd & Lee Robinson
One of the tightest matches of the afternoon, was between pairs Blott & Ubhi and Konopacki & O’Connor, sitting at 1-1 (8-11 11-8 respectively), it came down to a final 3rd game that went to the wire with both pairs desperately trying to outfox each other. Blott & Ubhi managed to pip their opponents at the post taking the 3rd game 13-11 in a well-fought battle.
The tournament came down to the final match of the day, with Steve Evans & Dan Evans and returning 2025 finalists Sam Morris & Ryan Pescod both arriving unbeaten and without dropping a game. With the title effectively on the line, the match served as a fitting tournament finale.
Both pairs produced competitive rallies and intelligent tactical play, making for an excellent contest. However, Steve and Dan proved slightly more consistent in the crucial moments, keeping errors to a minimum and edging both games to secure a 2–0 victory and the tournament title.

A big thank you to everyone who took part and helped create another enjoyable afternoon of squash. The event once again showcased the Club’s fantastic blend of competition, sportsmanship and camaraderie.
