5 December 2024

We are excited to share details of our first fundraising event for 2025, the Club Towers Charity Spinathon! Taking place on Saturday 1st February between 1pm and 6pm we are asking members to join us on the group exercise bikes to raise money for our members’ chosen charities, Bedford Blues Foundation and the Primrose Car Service.

The Programme

There will be five consecutive 45-minute spin classes, with 15-minute breaks in between, led by our fantastic instructors.  Fancy dress is very much encouraged for each class, whatever you fancy!

Each class will be suitable for beginners right through to experienced cyclists with levels available for all, guided by the instructors.

Throughout the afternoon and between classes refreshments will be provided to keep us all energised and raring to go and we would also like to invite everyone who takes part to a celebratory buffet in the Club Lounge afterwards, at around 6pm.

How to Get Involved

There are two ways to get involved this year:

Charity Place

In a first for our charity spinathons, we are pleased to be able to offer a small number of charity bikes. If you would like one of these, there is no charge for the classes but we ask that you pledge to raise a minimum of £250 by the 1st February for your bike.  If you book one of these bikes, you commit to doing all five classes and meeting the fundraising commitment.

Book per Class

If you’d prefer to donate yourself per class, each class is £20 per rider, and you can book as few or as many as you would like.

To Secure your Place……

For those looking to challenge themselves and book all five classes, or one of the charity places, we would like to offer you a one-week priority booking window from the 9th December, You will also be able to request your bike and position in the studio. Whilst we can’t guarantee this, we will do our very best to meet all requests. Those completing all five classes will also be presented with a Club Towers Spinathon medal!  All other bookings will open on the 16th December.

To book, please email Jo on [email protected] with your name and which of the above classes you would like to book. Jo or Lottie will then be in touch to take your payment and confirm your place. Places are booked on a first come, first served basis.

Please don’t forget that booking opens for those booking 5 classes from the 9th December and all other bookings from 9am 16th December.

Who are we Raising Funds for?

We are hoping to raise as much money as we can for Bedford Blues Foundation and Primrose Car Service and every penny we raise goes to them! These two charities were chosen by members to receive our support this year, but for those that aren’t familiar with their work here’s some very brief information on each.

The Bedford Blues Foundation is the charitable arm of Bedford Blues Rugby Club. Working across Bedfordshire and neighbouring areas, their mission is to inspire our community through the values of rugby to promote positive and informed lifestyle choices. The Foundation promotes community participation in healthy recreation by providing facilities for playing sport and physical activity. It also provides opportunities for education, sport, recreation or other leisure time activities for disadvantaged or vulnerable people across the community.

The Primrose Car Service provides award winning transport to cancer patients in Bedfordshire travelling to Addenbrookes Hospital for their radiotherapy treatment. This unique service, established in 2006 and believed to be one-of-a-kind in the UK, operates five days every week with a team of 25 volunteer drivers.  Co-ordinated by a volunteer manager, the service is made possible by the Bedford Hospital Charity and Friends, through generous donations received from the community.

Additional Fundraising

For those riders taking part, we would also encourage you to ask friends and family to sponsor you and we will provide a fundraising link when you book your bikes.

Instructors are giving their time for free to help us raise as much as possible (a great BIG thank you to them!) and the Club is covering all other costs, so all money paid for sessions or donated goes directly to the charities.

We can’t wait to see you all on the bikes and to raise lots of money for your chosen charities!
