Racquets Open Afternoon – Saturday 4th July

5 June 2026

As Wimbledon approaches and tennis fever starts to build, there’s no better time to get on court and enjoy some racquet sports. To give members the opportunity to get involved, we’re hosting a Racquets Open Day on Saturday 4th July, giving all members the chance to pick up a racquet.

While tennis will take centre stage, we’re also including squash and racketball, so whether you’re a regular player, a complete beginner, or someone who’s not played for years, we’d love you to come along and have a go.

Timings for the Afternoon:

Tennis – 12.00pm to 3.00pm

Squash – 12.30pm to 2.30pm

Racketball – 2.30pm to 3.30pm

Who Is It For?

The afternoon is open to all members, regardless of whether you are currently a racquets member.  For example, you might be:

  • Looking to try a racquet sport for the first time.
  • Returning to tennis, squash or racketball after a long break.
  • A current racquets member interested in trying another sport.
  • A family wanting some active fun together before enjoying the BBQ.
  • A parent keen to learn how best to rally and practise with your improving children.

Whatever your experience level, we’ll make sure you get some court time and support where needed and our coaching team will be available throughout the afternoon to organise sessions, offer tips and help players of all ages and abilities get the most from their time.

Do I need to book?

Please do book in advance through Reception in the Club, on 01234 607111 or by emailing [email protected]. Places are expected to fill quickly, and whilst we’ll do our best to accommodate walk-ins on the day if space allows, it is much better for all participants if we can plan the sessions in advance, knowing who is attending.

What Should I Bring?

To help us keep our courts in great condition, please ensure you wear appropriate footwear.

For squash and racketball, clean, non-marking, indoor-only court shoes are required.

For tennis, please wear comfortable trainers or court shoes suitable for outdoor play. We’re planning to use the outdoor courts for tennis, weather permitting – fingers crossed for some sunshine!

Don’t worry if you don’t have any equipment. Racquets, balls and squash goggles for children will all be available to borrow on the day.

Summer BBQ

If all that activity works up an appetite, Marlon and his team will be firing up the BBQ from 12.00pm until 4.00pm, serving up some of his ever-popular barbecue favourites throughout the afternoon.

Interested in Racquets Membership?

If you’d like to find out more about our racquets programme, coaching opportunities or membership options, members of the team will be available throughout the afternoon to answer any questions.

Members who upgrade to racquets membership on the day can start their new membership immediately and will also have the opportunity to join one of our complimentary four-week Start-Rite courses in August or beyond.

If you’re unable to attend the Open Day but would like more information about racquets membership or coaching, please contact our Racquets Operations Manager, Steve, at [email protected].

We hope you’ll join us for a fun afternoon on our courts and look forward to seeing you on Saturday 4th July.
