PT Neeraj Wins Staff Squash Tournament

9 January 2025

We recently held our second Staff Squash Tournament, following on from the success of the 2023 event. We now have approximately half of our staff actively playing squash, enjoying the social side of the game and getting fitter!

We had fewer novices this time but those new to squash made waves as they achieved unexpected progress including our Marketing Manager Jo who was persuaded to join in and then reached the quarter finals. Reception regular Zoe adapted her tennis skills nicely to the new discipline and progressed into the semi-finals, and newly promoted Gym Manager Jan astounded everyone by reaching the finals after just 2 sessions of learning how to play! This shows how, with a little bit of guidance, anyone can get into and enjoy this great sport. We even managed to get our tennis coaches involved, you can spot them in some of the pictures below.

The finals themselves (the Main tournament and a separate ‘Plate’ competition) played out in front of a small but enthusiastic crowd of their fellow colleagues. In the Main event, PT and strength training specialist Neeraj won 3-1 against Finance and HR manager, Theresa, in a closely contested match. This showed how much they have both improved since last year.

The Plate competition featured all those who lost in the first round of the main competition and the final produced an exhausting battle of skill and physicality with newcomer Jan eventually losing 3-2 to Sam from the Club Lounge team.

General Manager Steve Davies and Racquets Operations Manager Steve Adams marked the finals and were on hand to present winners and runners-up trophies to the finalists.

Big thanks go to coach Ed Norris for being the driving force for this event.  He has inspired the staff and it is fantastic that many of them are now ‘hooked’ …. having adopted squash as their new sport.

If this inspires you to maybe give squash a try, our team of amazing coaches are ready and waiting to get you started ….. just ask at Reception or email [email protected] for details
