Over £22,000 to Local Charities in our Best Ever Fundraising Year

17 July 2025

We have come to the end of another fundraising year at the Club and are delighted to announce that we have raised a phenomenal £22,563.23, which has been split equally between member chosen charities Bedford Blues Foundation and the Primrose Car Service.

This amazing total is only possible due to the generosity of our wonderful members and staff team – huge thanks to each and every one of you!

So, how did we reach such an amount?  We always aim to have four charity events every fundraising year and this year this has been made up of two cake & coffee mornings, a Spinathon and most recently our summer ball.

In February, over 50 members took part in our Spinathon, with some even completing five back-to-back classes, raising £4,812 in total. Our talented group of instructors created a brilliant programme, and as always, the outfits were a highlight of the event. If you didn’t catch the fun, you can see the photos here.

Fast forward to June and we held our bi-annual Charity Ball at the Bedford Blues Marquee on Goldington Road.  Around 150 guests joined us on a very warm, sunny evening where we raised £11,737! We hope that those who joined us agree that it was a lovely evening of delicious food, great dancing, good company with the absolute cherry on the cake being the amount raised.  Thank you to our generous sponsors and those companies who donated items for the auction and raffle, and also to those guests who bought raffle tickets and bid on auction prizes.  A truly special and memorable end to our fundraising year!

The Club continues to donate to the charities all of the £5 social guest fees that it receives each year, which amounted to several thousand pounds, in addition to supporting the Ball and other events with prizes, etc. This all helped us to reach this spectacular total.

We recently had the pleasure of sharing with the charities the total made and inviting them into the Club for our giant cheque presentation. Tom Harwood, Head of the Bedford Blues Foundation and Alysia Clarke, Operations Manager (pictured above) joined us at the Club earlier this month and wanted to share a heartfelt thank you to our members. Tom said “Thank you so much to everyone who attended an event or donated in anyway. We’ve enjoyed meeting members and the Club Towers team across the year (I’m not sure spin classes are for me though!) providing an opportunity to talk about the work we do for local people. The funds raised will make such a difference to so many young people.”

Peter Marks and Ken Williams from Primrose (pictured below) also joined us. Peter, who is also a driver for their service, shared what a difference the service makes to people who meet a very scary chapter of their lives but then also face the logistical problem of travelling to Addenbrookes to receive the treatment needed.  Primrose Car Service takes this problem away – something so many are so grateful for.

Debbie Inskip, Chairman of the charity, went onto say: “Thank you so much to everyone at Club Towers for their hard work and generosity this last year, we are so very appreciative.  Our half of this fantastic total will go towards the purchase of a new car and will help to keep it running to take people in our community over to Addenbrookes for their radiotherapy. Your support means a huge amount to us and to all the patients who will benefit over the years.”

Thank you again to all members and staff for helping us to reach such a magnificent total!

Who will we support in 2025-2026? It’s up to you!

That does bring us to the end of our fundraising year and the charity nomination process for the next 12 months is now open. If you’d like to nominate a local charity for us to support for 2025-2026, all the information that you need is here.  Once a shortlist of qualifying charities has been created, we then ask members to vote and the two charities with the most votes are the ones we will support.
