New U18 Squash Club Champion Crowned

Our three top ranked juniors at the Club battled it out in August to win the coveted U18 Junior Championship title for 2025. The event was run as a round-robin event, with each player playing the other two over a best of 3 format.

First up was Jonathan versus Eve. Jonathan’s higher ranking made him favourite for this one, but Eve battled very hard and pushed him all the way, especially in the second game, which was decided only after reaching 10-10. Next up it was Dan’s turn to take on Eve. Again, she battled hard, but it felt like the first match had taken a lot out of her and Dan was ruthless in closing out a 2-0 win.

And so, to the final match: Dan vs Jonathan. These two have had some thrilling tussles over the past few years and whilst this match did not quite reach those heights it still saw some tremendous rallies and superb athleticism from both players. Jonathan was slow out of the blocks and Dan raced into an early lead, taking the first game quite easily. But the second was a much tighter affair. Jonathan battled back and took a narrow 9-7 lead, looking likely to take it to a decider but could not quite close it out and Dan finished the match superbly to take the match 2-1 and the title.

Congratulations to Dan on the win, which highlighted his massive progress over the last 12-18 months.
