5 December 2024

We would like to wish all our members a wonderful, healthy and active Christmas and hope to see you in the Club over the holiday season. We’ve summarised all you need to know about the holiday season at the Club, hopefully you will find it helpful.  Don’t forget we also have our Club Calendar on-line which includes lots of key Club dates – you can find it here.

If you get the opportunity to relax in the Club Lounge we have some lovely hot drink specials; Orange Hot Chocolate and Tia Maria Coffee and our festive baguette, “a Christmas dinner in a baguette”, will be available most days in December.

Swimming

We take a break from junior swimming lessons with term finishing on Sunday 22nd December and our Christmas timetable starting from Monday 23rd December until Sunday 5th January. During this time, we take a break from Aqua classes with the pool predominantly in “general swim” mode, but with weekend family splash sessions running as usual.

The timetable can be viewed from the 10th December on our website here or paper copies can also be picked up from Reception should you prefer.

The new term for swimming lessons begins on Monday 6th January and bookings are being taken at Reception for existing swimmers from the 9th December, with general bookings (for those new to lessons) from the 16th December.  You can read more about our swimming lessons here. Please speak to Reception to check availability.

Gym

The gym remains open as per the above Club opening hours.  Just a reminder that our 12 – 15 year-olds can use the gym whilst supervised by a parent/guardian at the following times:

Weekdays: Any time apart from 17.30-20.00
Weekends: Any time after 12 noon.

PT Sessions

PT sessions continue to be available to book throughout the period.  The team are already getting booked up for January, so do get in touch with them to check their availability and avoid disappointment. You can find out more about our experienced team of personal trainers including the areas they specialise in and their contact details here.

Refresher Gym Induction

If you want to hit the ground running in January with a new exercise routine but would like some help why not book a refresher gym induction with the team or ask them to help you with designing a tailored programme.  Please speak to the Reception team to book a slot with one of the team who will be happy to help.

Group Exercise Classes

We will be running a reduced group exercise timetable from Monday 23rd December until Monday 6th January due to decreased member demand and instructor availability.  Please check the app for the most up-to-date information.

Our on-line service, Club Towers Live, included in your Club Towers membership, will continue over the Christmas and New Year period – please refer to the website for the latest information on class times. As well as the live classes we have a large On Demand library so you can pick the class that you like and do it at a time that suits you – often easier in the holidays! If you haven’t requested your free access code and would like to access the service, please email [email protected].  Look out for some a new CTL class in January too.

The instructor team will start the New Year with our next Les Mills Launch which will take place over the weekend of the 11 and 12th January.  This a perfect chance to try a new class as the routines and movements are new to everyone.  The classes will be available to book in the app in the usual way 6 days before.  Look out for details in the Club too.

Creche

Our creche will close on Wednesday 18th December and reopen at 9am on Wednesday 6th January.   The team do have spaces in the New Year and welcome babies and children from three months to six years old weekdays and Saturday mornings.  So, if you want an hour or two to yourself to exercise, do speak to the team at Reception about a settling in session.

Tennis, Squash & Table Tennis

Courts remain open to book in the usual way as per the above Club opening hours.

Junior Racquets Coaching

Junior racquets coaching takes a break with last sessions on Saturday 21st December. The junior coaching timetable will restart week commencing Monday 6th January. Priority booking for existing players opens from the 9th December, with bookings for new juniors taken from the 16th December.

To give juniors not currently enrolled in our coaching an opportunity to try our sessions before signing up to a full term we are running free tasters in January as follows.

Saturday 4th Jan – Tennis

9am – Ages 4 to 7 (Red Ball)

10am – Ages 8 to 11 (Orange and Green Ball)

11pm – Ages 12 to 16 (Yellow Ball)

Saturday 11th Jan – Squash

9.30 to 10.15am – Ages 4 to 7 (Mini-Group)

10.15 to 11am – Ages 8 to 16 (Beginners & Early Learners)

The taster sessions are free, but please do book at Reception in the Club or on 01234 607111, so that we know the numbers to expect.  We have racquets to borrow but please do ensure children are in clean, non-marking shoes.

If you would like your child to try either sport (or both!) but can’t make the dates above, please email Steve on [email protected] and hopefully we can arrange another date that works for you.

Tennis tots also take a break, last session this year is the 16th December and back on Monday 6th January.

Adult Tennis Coaching

Our December group tennis courses (Startrite, Playrite, Pro-rite and Masterclass) take a short break from 18th December and resume from week commencing Monday 6th January.  You can find out more about these on our website.  The next few months can be booked at Reception now.

Our excellent tennis coaches are available for private hire, should there be any points of your game you are looking to work on.  Please contact the coaches directly to find out their availability and to book. You can find out more about our coaches and their contact information here.

Cardo Tennis Class

Our Cardio Tennis Class is a great workout on Tennis Court 7, using rackets and balls. It continues to run every Saturday from 8 to 8.50am but please note that there will be no class on 28th December. The class is open to all members (not just racquets members) and can be booked on the app under “classes”, six days in advance.

Squash County Closed – 2nd-5th January

We start the New Year once again by hosting the Beds Squash County Closed from the 2-5th January.  A great spectacle with A, B and C, Ladies and Over 55 grades finals on Sunday 5th January. Entries are open now and all information can be found here. All are welcome to come along to watch too.

Squash and Racketball Club Nights and Meet a Coach

Club Nights continue every Thursday (Racketball) and Friday (Squash) from 5.45 to 7.15pm, with our next “Meet the Coach at Club Nights” on Thursday 16th and Friday 17th January.  These sessions are an opportunity to get on court and ask any questions you may have about playing, either starting or tweaking your game and to find out about further playing opportunities in the Club.  No need to book – just turn up and introduce yourself to the coach!

Nutrition Services

16-Week Nutrition Course

We are very lucky to have an in-house nutrition expert in the Club and one of the services we offer is our 16-week course, Master the Fundamentals of Healthy Eating.  We run this twice a year for members and non-members. The January course will start on the 22nd January and booking is open now with an early bird discount of 10% if you book before the 15th December.

The course is aimed at people who don’t want to fad diet, but instead want to learn how to make sustainable changes that will last! It is suitable for those who want to be able to eat well, have energy and feel good and want to support their exercise routines in the best way possible. It is also highly applicable for those currently on weight loss drugs, enabling them to more easily sustain their weight loss once the drugs are removed.

Full information on the course can be found here.  If you have any questions that you’d like to ask or want to speak to Coach Ann to see if the course would be right for you, please do get in touch with her for a short consultation via [email protected].

Nutrition and Wellness Info-Hub

A quick reminder about our excellent nutrition info hub, which offers a wide range of useful wellbeing content. Articles cover topics such as The Power of Sleep, 25 Ways to Eat Well on the Go, How to Stop Stress Eating, and very relevant at this time of year some tips on how to eat healthily in the holiday season and much more. You can check it all out here

Health and Wellness Evaluations

If you want to make a fresh start in January, as many of us do, a health and wellness evaluation is a great starting point. These evaluations, available to members and non-members, will provide you with a detailed assessment of your current status in the four fundamental wellness areas: healthy eating/nutrition, sleep, stress management and movement. They go on to identify what actions you can start to take immediately to help improve your health outcomes for the long term.  More information can be found here or again if you have any questions, please email Ann on [email protected].

Treatment Room Partners

Our treatment room partners are also taking a short break over the Christmas period.

North Beds Osteopaths

Jason from North Beds Osteopaths will close the clinic at the Club from the 21st December. He is back on the 30th and then normal hours resume from Thursday 2nd January.  Details of their services and contact information can be found here.

Kinetic MSK

Maddie is offering physio and massage appointments across December, based here at the Club on Mondays and Tuesdays. Sunny will be back with us from the 30th.  Details of their services and how to book can be found here.

Last Minute Gift Vouchers

Don’t worry if you’ve left it to the last minute to get your loved one a present! We have a number of gift vouchers available to buy right up until we close on Christmas Eve, including PT sessions, tennis or squash lessons or vouchers for the Club Lounge. You can read more here or do ask the Reception Team.  We can present your voucher wrapped in an envelope decorated with a ribbon.

Wishing you a very Merry Christmas from the Club Towers team.
