Congratulations to 2025 Box Race Winners
Increased Numbers and Participation in the Leagues
The 2025 Box League Races ended on 11th January and the top five in each league are listed below. All players in the leagues accumulated points throughout the whole year across eight cycles. Regardless of ability, the aim of the race is to reward players for playing as many games as possible through the year and for excelling at their respective level.
Overall we saw an increase of 24 players in the tennis, squash and racketball box leagues in 2025 compared to 2024 and a fantastic 30% increase in players earning points in the squash league. We currently? now? have 15 divisions in the squash league, 10 in tennis and 5 in racketball and there are also 3 divisions in the mixed doubles tennis league. It is great to see so many players at all levels eager to play their games, hungry to rise up the leagues and to accumulate points through the year. The final standings show how close it was, literally right to the very last game in the squash race. It was equally pleasing to see players from all divisions chasing hard to win points all year round.
The top five in each race were ….
Tennis – Singles
| Winner | Alex Wakely | 116 points |
| Runner - Up | Russell Bland | 105 points |
| 3rd Place | George Swallow | 95 points |
| 4th Place | Tom Hall | 90 points |
| 5th Place | Sam Flipczak | 86 Points |
Congratulations Alex! A very deserving winner by earning your promotions from the lower divisions a year ago up to division 2 now. And also to Russell for holding your own in the mid-table divisions, for much longer than just the last year.

Tennis – Mixed Doubles
| Winners | Nicola Wilson-Fowler & Ian Grove | 64 Points |
| Runners - Up | Karen Wright & Sri Sreedhara | 34 points |
| 3rd Place | Amanda Greenland & Nick Murthwaite | 28 points |
| 4th Place | Claire Grant & Arif Hakim | 26 points |
| 5th Place | Rosie Brierley & Chris Brierley | 23 points |
Well done Nicola and Ian! You hit the ground running last January and stretched away through the whole year.

Squash
| Winner | Sam Swann | 176 points |
| Runner - Up | Paul Kyndt | 175 points |
| 3rd Place | Ben Mann | 160 points |
| 4th Place | Will Montgomery | 145 points |
| 5th Place | Daniel Evans | 140 points |
Congratulations Sam and Paul! Both relative newcomers to squash you strode your way up the divisions and most importantly played all your games through the year. With 42 players reaching 100 points plus this is surely the most competitive league. All the more impressive that one single point clinched the race for Sam.

Racketball
| Winner | Sam Morris | 196 points |
| Runner - Up | Athar Ahmed | 156 points |
| 3rd | Simon Joyce | 153 points |
| 4th | Ian Thomas | 138 points |
| 5th | Steve Barlow | 134 points |
In a repeat of last year’s top two placings in the racketball race, Sam Morris again showed his dominance, with Athar the runner-up. A big mention goes to Simon Joyce who only started in this league in 2025, just 3 points behind Athar. Well done guys! Who will knock Sam off his perch in 2026?

Especially big thanks go to all 191 box league competitors who scored points in all four leagues. The full list of results can be found here.
