Celebration of Junior Talent in Inter-Club Tennis Match

Last Sunday we hosted a county tennis match between our 8U and 12U (Boys) teams at Club Towers. The other teams were Riverside (Bedford) and Venue360 (Luton). There was an excellent standard of play and great fun and sportsmanship throughout.  First up were our Club Towers 12U (Boys) team against Riverside, with all four singles matches keenly contested. Theo and Herbie each won their rubbers , and so the match was finely poised at 2-all as they went into the doubles. These two rubbers were closely contested with Riverside just pipping our team in both. In the second match against V360 two very close singles rubbers came down to tie-breaks, which V360 narrowly clinched. The doubles rubber played by William and Herbie produced a great win, despite losing the team match overall. Well played to all our players – William, Findlay, Theo, Arka and Herbie.

Final Placings – 12U (Boys)

V360 – 9 points

Riverside – 6 points

Club Towers – 3 points

Our 8U team put in a dominant performance in their match against the same clubs. Our four starlets were Dillon, Veer, Jack and Siena. At this age the 8U’s play on a mini court with a soft red fabric ball. The team won both matches 5-1, winning all four of their doubles matches in the process. This was a superb result and reward for all their hard work in training.

We look forward to more inter-club match opportunities for our juniors in all age groups in future. These are a great experience for the juniors to pit their wits against tough opposition and to represent their club in a team situation.
