Another Incredible Year of Fundraising at the Club, over £23,000 raised
We have come to the end of another fundraising year at the Club, and we’re delighted to announce that we’ve raised a phenomenal £23,869.26, split equally between our member-chosen charities, Mind BLMK and Above and Beyond Cancer Foundation.
This amazing total has only been possible thanks to the generosity, enthusiasm and support of our wonderful members and staff team. A huge thank you to each and every one of you!
How did we raise such an incredible amount?
Each fundraising year we aim to hold four major charity events, and this year they included two Cake & Coffee Mornings, our annual Spinathon, and – for the very first time – our 12-hour Classathon.
This epic day saw a complete group exercise takeover, with 27 classes, 23 instructors and more than 250 members taking part. Everyone who booked a class donated £8, with every penny going directly to our charities. We were also supported by an incredible team of fundraisers. Ana, Dave, Lauren and Gav (who even ran to the Club dressed as a cow!) completed all twelve hours of classes, with Lauren, Ana and Dave somehow finding the energy to teach as well as participate. Jill completed ten classes, fitting them around her daughter’s performance, while Karen completed eight and Gail took on six. Together, this dedicated team raised more than £3,000, helping the Classathon achieve an incredible total of £9,228. You can read more about this unforgettable day here.
Alongside our fundraising events, the Club continues to donate all £5 social guest fees received throughout the year to our chosen charities, contributing almost £4,000 this year alone.
Meeting Our Charities
We recently had the pleasure of welcoming representatives from both charities to the Club for a special cheque presentation.
Jeanette from Mind BLMK said:
“We are incredibly grateful to the team and members at Towers Health & Racquets Club for their phenomenal support as our Charity of the Year. Raising an amazing £11,934.63 is an outstanding achievement that highlights the incredible community spirit at the club. From gruelling sporting challenges to their fantastic cake sales, everyone involved has shown immense dedication. These vital funds will go directly toward supporting the essential work we provide for people experiencing mental health difficulties within our local communities.
Thank you for helping us ensure that no one has to face a mental health problem alone.”
Karen and Jayne from Above and Beyond Cancer Foundation also shared this heartfelt message:
“We do not quite know where to begin to express how grateful we are for your support over the past 12 months. Your incredible fundraising efforts have made a truly meaningful difference to our charity, and we would like to express our deepest thanks for your generosity and support.
Your kindness will help ensure that we can continue providing our much-needed services to those who rely on us, offering care, support and hope when it is needed most. Every pound raised will have a lasting impact, helping us to reach more people and continue our vital work.
On behalf of everyone at our charity, and the individuals and families we support, thank you for believing in our mission and for making such a positive difference.”
Looking Ahead – Who will we support in 2026-2027? It’s up to you!
It’s been another super fundraising year and has taken our overall charity fundraising total to more than £115,000 since the Club opened in 2017.
It is now time for members to choose our next two charities for the next 12 months. If you’d like to nominate a local charity for us to support for 2026-2027, all the information that you need is here. Once a shortlist of qualifying charities has been created, we then ask members to vote and the two charities with the most votes are the ones we will support.
As we look ahead to our tenth year, we do so with enormous pride and excitement for what’s to come. And yes… there will be a Charity Ball! -Saturday 19th June – save the date!
