A Sweet Success: Over £2,000 Raised for Charity!
The first charity event of our fundraising year was our Cake and Coffee Morning which took place at the end of November — and what a morning it was! Busy, bustling, and absolutely brimming with cake!
Funds were raised through cake sales and via the Club donating 50% of all hot drink sales, and we also ran a fun competition to guess the name of a Jellycat tennis ball — it was Toby! Congratulations to Soraya, who guessed correctly and has given him a loving new home.
Thanks to everyone’s efforts, we achieved an incredible total of £2,021! An outstanding amount that will make a real difference for our chosen charities: Mind BLMK and the Above & Beyond Cancer Foundation. Representatives from both charities attended, met members, and shared their gratitude. For those not familiar with their work we’ve shared a little about what they do at the end of the blog.
A huge thank you to everyone who baked, including many members, staff, and instructors. Special recognition goes to Missi of Missi’s Cakes, whose extraordinary cake donations truly helped make our total soar. We’re also grateful to our suppliers, La Rondine and Bookers, for their continued support.
And finally, a massive thank you to everyone who came along to enjoy a slice (or two!) of cake and a cup of coffee!
Our next event is our Charity Spinathon on Saturday 7th February and booking is open now.
Charity Information
Above & Beyond Cancer Foundation was established in 2012 by Karen and Jayne, two women who met and supported each other through their own diagnoses. The charity provides compassionate 1:1 personal support, resources, and encouragement to cancer patients and their loved ones. Their mission is to address the emotional, physical, and mental toll of a cancer diagnosis, delivering support directly to patients in non-clinical settings such as homes or local venues.
Mind BLMK is a local charity that works across our communities to support positive mental health and wellbeing. They offer a range of activities at wellbeing centres and other venues to make a difference to the mental health and wellbeing of local people. Their aim is to make sure that no-one has to face a mental health problem alone.
